Members of Idle No More SF Bay conduct prayers for the water along the shoreline at the beginning and end of each walk. The Walks are led by a sacred Native American staff and Native Americans and others in prayer, followed by those in contemplation and conversation. Walkers stop at the refineries and toxic sites along the way to pray for the healing of the air, water and soil and for the next 7 generations.
Toward the end of each walk, walkers are invited to begin to imagine their what their communities would be like with a just transition beyond fossil fuel and an economy that works for everyone. At the end of each walk there is an art project where people are encouraged to write or draw their "envisionings" on muslin squares which will be sewn into quilts. Quilts from the 2014 Walks will be on display at the beginning and end of each Walk.
